The music is hauntingly beautiful, and listening to the melodies reminds me of once upon a time where music was truly an expression of the soul, instead of a visceral clashing sound. Thank you for playing music with meaning, you have joined a select club of few bands in m mind, for the mainstream conformity of other bands is like a reflection etched in stone, forever bound to one day be worn away, while truly individual music such as your own is like a reflection is water, forever here, shifting and changing with time to beautify the world for those who care to look. As much as I would love to see you on tour, the sad fact is that the United States is so overrun with purely conformed pop and hip hop shit, with the most miniscule amount of "metal" being the clashing of instruments and screaming of mainstream crap, and even worse is being in the low density state of Wisconsin, where far and few bands roll through.

Just got the Where Dream and Day Collide ep in mail, and once again, it's all good. Beatiful, even fun, which is not the first word describing you usually.

Thank you for sending all this music to the world, even when it seems to make no sense in this "EVERYBODY GET RICH QUICK!" -world.

Were it not a joke, my fear would endeth and leave me betwixt the mire and pyre yet only to dream of Kings and Queens. The merely novel pass and only those of greatness grasp longevity and fortitude eternal. Doubly crossed the ranger intervenes and carries mangers quarry deep beyond the hearth. O captain quicken, harken vixen and learn what foxes may be what they do. A monstrous art begat my heart and knoweth what thy dreameth come thine way.

Beware the monkey as he plays the fool. While you laugh at his antics, he bites you from behind.

Ser fram til konserten deres!

PS: Det kan være litt vrient å få lyden på Rockefeller til å bli bra. Har blant annet opplevd konserter der hvor det er alt for mye bass. Men dere får ha lykke til :-)

Guys, even if you're not no. 1 in the Metal Storm polls and lose to some pop-sympho-plastic-cookie-cutter band dont't you dare even acknowledge that. You're music is enchanting, emotional yet cold, ominous yet soothing, full of despair and anger, yet somehow life affirming... I lack words to describe it! I've been a fan since AFIG which is AWESOME, I liked Deadlands and Desiderata, but Eight Ways is perhaps your best album, even better than the debut album. Please keep ignoring mainstream, you are true artists! Come to Poland!

Hi! For five-six years ago I got my hands on "All flesh is grass" from a friend, who sold it to me at the price of one beer. Since then I´m stuck, your albums is a must-have. You make the most beautiful, strong, emotional music I know of. Hope to see you playing in Sweden soon.

I\'ve been a long time listener to your creative/absurdly unique music. I have absolutely no idea what genre you guys fall under, but it can definitely put me into pleasant,trance-like mindsets.

On a final note, you guys ought to try listening to your music on LSD; It\'s a pretty profound experience, and your work along with Opeth\'s always accompanies my annual trip!

Keep up the great work and don\'t go following formulas!

I just wanted to say that this is one of my all time favorite bands. I've just started listening to Madder Mortem maybe 3 or 4 months ago with the Eight Ways album. It's been in my car stereo for I don't know how long and I'm still not sick of it. You can't find very many great progressive jazzy metal bands anywhere. Really great music. Keep it up!

Fucking amazing music!!! I´ve just heard "Desiderata" coz I found it at a music store (in the low-priced section) and I liked the CD cover... and what a surprise! I thought it would be some kinda gothic-doom, but man! what I found was much better! Progressive-goth-dark-nu-jazzy-metal-rock? Or something like that, in any case, Madder Mortem is now in my top-ten of favorite bands. I´ll sure look for the whole discography. Greetings from Mexico!

I've been a fan ever since I heard Deadlands a few years ago -- Eight Ways is fantastic (I love how much fun you had with "Get That Monster Out of Here", haha) and I'm trying to spread the word about you. Already converted one friend so far! :D

I wonder, do you think you'll have merch left over from your upcoming gigs? Me (and my mum, who's also a fan) would love some MM shirts...

I just received Eight Ways in the mail today. To burden you with the statements you are likely already hearing incessantly regarding how much the masterpiece you've created is beyond my intentions. However I will say you have taken a successful formula and used it to achieve another great album. You've pushed out my favourite parts of your sound and made them flourish. I have never heard such fusion in one act before. Depth and heart, calculation, and a voice like a hurricane force wind. Faaaaaantastic YO!

Hi Everybody! it is only now that i am writing in your guestbook. I discovered your band with the Deadlands album and i have been an absolute fan ever since. I bought all of your albums on Ebay, as your albums are very hard to get in my country. I really strived to get your Mercury album.

Your music is a breath of fresh air, among all the bands with a female singer. You mix in so much emotion and influences in your music compared to many crap bands out there.

Could you post some guitar and bass tabs of your songs on your site as i have been searching everywhere on the net and i''ve found none!

Thanks for making great music and i hope to see you live someday.

Hello Madder Mortem =)
I''ve been a fan of yours since I ever heard your music for the first time.
Your originality, thought and melodie ran into my eardrums as something that I really needed. The world isn''t always pretty.
I have a humble request upon you, my birthday is upcoming the 2nd of june, an me beeing myself I would like a differnte song for it.
I talked about you to my friends, and about what my request was going to be, all them laughed and told me I was merely dreaming.
I might be, but I have the courage to stand digitaly before you and ask you for such a song.
My up most sincere regrdads.
Wish you all nothing but the best.
Cheers

Damn! You guys are so great! I have been a fan since Mercury, my former band even played with you once in Norway..So how come you let me down by releasing a new single in a download format only!! WHY!?! Internet is really killing the music - I will never pay money for something that is not a product i.e. something I can actually lay my hands on - or even better look at it at home or hang it on the wall. Shame on you - you better release it in a nice limited 7" double-picdisc-foldout version with poster! I''m serious!
I hope the songs better turn up on the coming cd (LP!) then :) all the best

Hi again. I've corresponded a few times with you in emails, but my last few have gone without response as you guys have said that aol screws you out of mail, unfortunately. At any rate, i know have purchased your whole official discography(aside from Misty Sleep) and i am reveling in euphoria from the sounds coming from my speakers and headphones. Unlike most artists, rather than change your approach as you progress, you have taken the best aspects of all your past releases and it has culminated in the utterly classic, "DESIDERATA". It's very unique to feel so many different things while listening to one album, but that is the hallmark of your work. My personal favorite is "Evasions" but every song has it's own place in my heart. Agnete's complete abandon on "Hangman" is definitely making Janis Joplin smile somewhere knowing that there are still singers bearing their souls to humanity. Thanks so much, and i only can hope that in the near future you will be able to tour the US and i'll play aging groupie and attend every show. I know how much the guys in Opeth love you, so get them to take you on their next North American outing! THere is also a tour in November with Moonspell and your label mates Katatonia that would be great for you. I'm so ashamed that here in the states their is hardly any sponsorship of bands other than the commercial crap that will guarantee to sell to the masses. I was in Europe luckily a few times in the nineties and the support for the underground is entirely incredible! Please keep me posted on any new developments and Keep rocking! Any other fans who would like to correspond, feel free to get in touch at the above email address. Cheers and Long Live Madder Mortem!

I just thought you might like to know that my review of Desiderata is now on-line.

Here''s an excerpt:

Things like stability, dependability and the ability to follow a reasoned line of thinking are applauded. There is a distrust of ''intuition,'' and those who are ''different'' are judged ''mad''. Sometimes art can be salvation for those who seek to transcend the mundanity of everyday life, for those not content to think the same things as everyone else. I''d hesitate to describe Madder Mortem as insane, but I would pity any psychiatrist trying to judge anyone''s mental health having listened to Desiderata.

Good morning, friends from Madder Morten Band, my name is Antonio Augusto Cesar Junior, I live in Brazil, in the middle of a jungle, the Amazon Forest, at State of
Pará, so if you take a look at the map, at north of
Brazil, Belém is the capital. So I´m sorry by bothering
you, but I love your sounds, the way you play your
musics, all the instruments very well played, that´s
because I love your musics very much. Please, if you can do
me a favor, so this is important to me, you could send
to me a PROMO CD from your musics, the way you play
your songs is really fantastic, the radio is called CAbana FM 103,3, please, if you can do
this to me, so if you give me the permission to play
your songs in a FM Station here in my city, ok, if you
don´t give me the right to do it, believe me I won´t
play. I don´t lend my cd´s to anybody I keep them at
my bedroom, only to me hear them. I´m 41 years old, but I love music, this is very important to me. I really
thank you if you can do this dream to become true, if
don´t, is a great pleasure to write an e-mail to a
great band. Thanks again and God blesses you in your musician life. My address is Rua São Francisco 833. Bairro Batista Campos, CEP 66023530. Belém Pará Brazil.

Take a look at these sites of my city, you´ll love
them, and will know better where I live.

The first time I heard MM was on a show with Opeth, in Portugal. I liked it a lot, so I went to find their records. I though very interesting the way you use the heavy guitars to harmonize the vocals. It''s very subtile and very well done. Heard your new song. Very "disturbing". Very good. I have to be honest: I don''t even care what the lyrics are about (sorry, but I''m listening to music, not reading a book), neither like you visual dimension (which I think has something to with goth rock or something like that), which proves you are very good musicians, because there are a lot of well known bands that if we take the concepts and the visuals off, what remains is "zero". Fortunately, it''s not your case. You''d still be great if you dressed any other way.
Keep on rocking.

Got "Desiderata" from cdon.com about 1 1/2 weeks ago and I love it! Probably my favourite metal album of this year (since it´s very unlikely that Monika Edvardsen will rejoin Atrox). Unfortunately, it seems some people simply can´t bear musical originality/an original female voice - like the guy who wrote the review in the German magazine Rock Hard and complained about Agnete´s disharmonic vocals, stating she sounded like a "female Iranian human rights activist on drugs".

I heard your music for the very first time yesterday and it was very fascinating. I believe the song was My Name Is Silence and it was so beautiful and progressive, yesh! Band plays very well together and I liked especially wicked guitar orchestrations, powerful vocals and tight rhythm section. Ok lets face it, the whole package was just amazing. I''m definetely going to check the album Desiderata! Keep up the good work!

Hallo!
Når slik ca begynner faenskapet på John Dee? Det trengs litt planlegging hvis man skal bøtte inn med alkohol før man drar seg til Oslo.

Perhaps the most beautiful soundscapes in the genre, and certainly one of the very best voices. I accidentally stumbled upon "Deadlands", and now I want, I WANT the rest...!

I just recently discovered this band, when I bought the compilation cd "Missbehaviour". I watched the live performance of "Rust Cleansing" on the dvd that came with it, and I must say, I am highly impressed. That song stuck in my head for days until I had to go out and get a copy of the cd "Deadlands". Amazing job, you guys. It''s not everyday a band stands out in the crowd ;)

Desiderata was even better than I hoped! Awesome. The last track shows that intensity is not a factor of brutality at all - just like Anathema does on TSE. Heartbreakingly good. - Den som venter på noe godt...

Just received the promo from Paul at Peaceville. Smashing! I only remembered you vaguely from the tour in 2001 and not too much from the last record (shame on me), but "Desiderata" is a killer album! Can''t wait to hear these new songs on your upcoming tour - make sure you stop by in Berlin. TAKK!!!
